Yesterday I finally got back on the track. It was a nice change from the road and the environment in the velodrome is awesome. The session was run by Blackburn and it involved some sprints, pacelines and a couple of flying 200′s as well as getting reacquainted with the hallowed timber boards. After the first couple of nervous laps (bare in mind last time I rode the track I crashed) I started to become more comfortable on the drome after my three month hiatus. During the night I did some good training with a mate and we had some good discussions about cycling and its odd culture. I hope this little post got you intrigued to start riding the boards or get back into it after most of the winter off.
The sessions are run by Blackburn cycling club and they kick off at 6:00pm every Friday at the DISC velodrome in Thornbury. For more details go to the Blackburn website and send and email to info@bbn.org.au.
I hope to see you at DISC in the near future for some awesome winter training!
