Kew Boulevard Time Trial

This Morning I participated in the Blackburn/De Ver Kew Boulevard Time Trial. The weather in the past couple of days was pretty bad meaning that the road was quite dangerous with lots of derbis. To make the bad conditions worse the morning was freezing with the forecasts predicting a maximum of 13 degrees. The race had about 90 riders which made for a pretty exciting time trial and environment. The course is undulating with a couple of reasonably tough climbs in the 10km circuit.

My race

Unfortunately I don’t think I rode as well as I could. This is partly due to not getting as much training as I would have liked over the past couple of months. It is also accredited to harshness of the course, with its horrible undulations and the dreadful road surface it isn’t the easiest course to ride. One thing I noticed was the lack of juniors using time trial bars. Even though the course is quite hilly I would have expected almost all U/15′s and up using areo bars however this wasn’t the case.

About the race

The Kew Boulevard time trials occur every month during the winter and it is an awesome location to time trial and train with little traffic. The race was brilliantly organised by Blackburn Cycling Club. The race ran smoothly with clear indications of directions and marshals on all the corners making sure you take the right directions. The race results aren’t up yet but check out the Blackburn Facebook page where the results will be posted. So Congratulations to everyone who rode and if you didn’t make sure you ride next time. Again thanks to Blackburn for organising such a brilliant bike race. If you rode, comment on how you found the ride.
